Mountain Mamas Music Monday - the workshop edition
Good morning, Mamas!
While I was in Minnesota farm country (and, let's be honest, the Mall of America) this weekend, Kimberly and Monica led our first Mountain Mamas' workshop at The Chimney Place in Lakewood! I'm sad that I missed it, but I'm so excited that it turned out to be such a fun and educational experience for everyone. We currently have two more workshops lined up - one in August and one in September - so I'm looking forward to seeing some familiar and new faces then!
What We're Reading
The Case for Doing Nothing (NY Times). It's not hard to fill up the day with busyness and even continue to promote the notion that if you're not busy, that something is wrong. This article provides a simple (but not necessarily easy) way to break that habit.
Ms. Mann’s research has found that daydreaming — an inevitable effect of idleness — “literally makes us more creative, better at problem-solving, better at coming up with creative ideas.” For that to happen, though, total idleness is required.
Community and Creativity in Mundane Retail Spaces (Austin Kleon). If you can't seem to manage "practicing idleness" at home, maybe you should head to your local diner (or Waffle House). Put down the tech, pick up a pencil, and don't forget to tip your servers.
5/10 - Bonnie & Taylor Sims @ CHUBurger (Longmont). I'm going to this one! C'mon out to Longmont and grab a burger with me and the family.
5/11 - Bonnie and the Clydes @ Oskar Blues (Boulder)
5/12 - BlackHawk with Goatz! @ Washingtons (Fort Collins) - check out Mountain Mamas' alum, Janeen, and her band, Goatz!, opening for country band, BlackHawk
5/13 - Monica Marie and David Burchfield @ Laughing Goat (Boulder)
I hope you all have a wonderful week and I look forward to seeing you soon!
