Mountain Mamas Music Monday - the weekend edition
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was filled with music and Mountain Mamas’ goodness. Friday night was the Avenhart / Wood Belly show at the Wildflower Pavilion in Lyons. (If you haven’t heard these bands, you definitely should!) and then Saturday, we had our first Mountain Mamas’ jam (thanks for hosting, Meredith!) If you’d like to join us for these events in the future, make sure you sign up for our mailing list and join our Facebook group.
What’s Happening This Week
5/2 - TAARKA with Bonnie & the Clydes at Ophelia’s (Denver)
5/4 - Strumming and Basic Theory Workshop with Monica. We only have a couple of spots left for this workshop. Sign up now and join us in Lakewood on Saturday.
What We’re Watching
Mandolin Orange backstage Opry debut - If you missed Mandolin Orange when they were in Colorado earlier this year, you have a few more chances to see them. They’ll be in Fort Collins in June and then at the Folks Festival in Lyons in August. Here’s a fun little clip to tide you over until then.
Last week, I mentioned Strum Machine as a great tool. Here’s a video from Megan Lynch Chowning (a championship fiddler, IBMA award winner, and host of Nashville Acoustic Camps) explaining a bit more about Strum Machine and how it can be used to practice fills. Although this video focuses on fiddle, many of Megan’s tips can be applied to any instrument.
That’s it for this week - hope you have a great one!
